Old Fashioned

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp simple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 3 dashes of angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of orange bitters
  • 1 tsp of maraschino cherry syrup

Steps

  1. Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Add the simple syrup, bourbon, bitters and cherry syrup and stir until well-chilled
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
  4. Top with maraschino cherries and/or a twist of an orange peel

Notes

  • This recipe is very flexible. Have fun with it!
  • Try swapping simple syrup for maple syrup, flavored syrup and/or the types of bitters
  • Makers Mark, Woodford reserive and Whistle Pig are bourbons I’ve tried and would recommend as a starting point
  • Luxardo maraschino are really good if you can get them
  • Large ice cubes/spheres are best, but not necessary. They keep the drink cold and don’t melt as fast.
